The Next Top Models

Joost Mulder (guitarist, 1980) grew up in the city Zwolle and left for Amsterdam when he was 18. Son of a mother and father who are both psychiatrist he was always interested in the human mind and tried to explore it through playing the guitar. Until today he has never really found answers in his guitar but has become a very talented guitarist and songwriter because of this search. He met singer Peter in the boys-choir in Zwolle. They decided to start a band together after they got kicked out while playing Nirvana during choir-practice. Since then they have been playing together. Joost his search still continues till this day.

Peter van Apeldoorn (singer, 1981) son of an extremely posh mother and very scruffy looking father always felt caught in two different worlds. In the daytime he would go shopping with his mom at the Fashion streets of Zwolle and at night he would visit his dad playing accordeon in dirty pubs. His Prada sweaters were not always appreciated by his class members, but his choir-friend Joost did recognize his great taste. When Peter bought Joost a beautiful kashmir sweater they became friends for life. Pretty soon after that they discovered each other’s musical talent and tried to make a medley out of Nirvana songs during choir practice. It sounded great, but they were kicked out because of their bad behavior in class. A few days later they started a band.

Leslie Borgers (drummer, 1981) was born and raised in Brabant in a very musical family. At first she played the clarinet, but in here wild teen years she chose an instrument that fitted her better. In the drums she can express her rage and energy much easier than on the clarinet. Famous for her loud way of playing she is the driving force behind The Next Top Models. She met Peter and Joost while serving hamburgers at a local Mc Donald’s in 2004. When they heard her drumming on some soda cans using straws as drumsticks they asked her to join their band.

Diederik van der Harst (bass player, 1981) was born in Ecuador and raised in Het Gooi. Because he spent his early years living abroad he never really felt at home in the Netherlands. He played the didgeridoo when he was a kid, but when he heard his uncle play the bass in his punk band “It’s all Bad” he fell in love with this heavy instrument. From that day all he did was play till his fingers bled. When he was asked to play the bass on several fashion show’s for G-star-Raw he met the rest of the band who where also asked to play. While touring in Barcelona and Berlin Diederik once did a whole show playing his bass backwards. This was the reason for the other three to ask Diederik to join the band and form The Next Top Models. The rest is history, as MJ would say.

Braque
 

Jan Evert van Apeldoorn is zanger en oprichter van Braque. In het laatste jaar van zijn theateropleiding Selma Suzanna is deze groep tot stand gekomen. Begonnen met alleen piano- en gitaarbegeleiding; inmiddels zijn daar een percussionist, (contra)bassist en een drummer aan toegevoegd. De nu 6-koppige groep voelt zich beter dan ooit. Klaar om te rocken!
